Diego Cervo (terrific microstocker and happy LookStat user!) has a great article on his pre-production process posted at The Factory by Moodboard. As with most production activity (in any domain) the more you can figure out up front, the more efficiently you’ll spend your resources. His site is being worked on but you can check out his portfolio at Shutterstock to see his awesome work.
We did a maintenance release last night and as part of it added ‘This Year’ and ‘Last Year’ as options in the date range drop down. These time frames are available for all earnings views (total/by site/by image).
Lee has a review of LookStat on his blog Microstock Diaries. If you’re not already a subscriber to his blog, you should be. It was one of the first places I went when I began exploring microstock and I haven’t missed a post since my initial visit. In addition to writing an excellent, informative blog, Lee’s a great guy and if you get the chance to meet him, I highly recommend it.

I am currently planning my next big shoot. I am finding the Lookstat earnings section very helpful in targeting the type of images we should be concentrating on. Especially useful is the ability to see the best sellers from the last 30 days or what every timescale you set.

The system is now tracking IS extended license sales. The system will correctly record these sales from this point forward. We will be rolling out fixes that will update historical EL sales over the next few weeks.
We’re currently working on making our data acquisition and aggregation systems more robust (and self-healing.) We’re also improving image matching. We have more sites ready and waiting in the wings but wanted to do a little housekeeping first. Thanks for your patience and support!
